# Other

> Guidelines for seasonal, partner, or one-off rules.

**Other** is the fourth guideline category on the **Identity & guidelines** tab. Use it for custom rules that do not fit [Identity & style](/help/ai-employees/identity-and-guidelines/identity-and-style), [Conversation flow & objectives](/help/ai-employees/identity-and-guidelines/conversation-flow-and-objectives), or [Boundaries](/help/ai-employees/identity-and-guidelines/boundaries).

Typical uses: temporary campaigns, regional policies, partner-specific workflows, and organizational one-offs. There are no default **Suggestions** templates for this category — write prompts from scratch.

It is tempting to treat Other as a minor afterthought, but it often ends up housing some of the most business-critical instructions a company configures. Because the other three categories are each scoped fairly narrowly, plenty of legitimate operational instructions do not have a natural home in any of them — internal escalation preferences that do not quite qualify as a hard boundary, business-specific formatting conventions, or company context that shapes tone without being a stylistic instruction in the traditional sense. Because this category is freehand, with no fixed template library, nothing genuinely important to your business gets left unconfigured just because it did not fit neatly into one of the other three boxes.

<Tip>
  Prefer a specific category when one exists. Reserve **Other** for true exceptions, and set **status** to inactive when a campaign ends instead of deleting the guideline.
</Tip>

## When to use Other

Open the **Other** accordion in [**AI Employees**](https://app.heyy.io/ai-employees) when a rule is temporary, partner-specific, or does not map cleanly to the other three categories.

## Example guidelines

Write each as a separate guideline with a clear title. These are common patterns teams use in **Other** — adapt the prompts to your brand.

**Seasonal promotion**

> Through December 31, mention code SAVE20 for 20% off annual plans when the contact asks about pricing.

**Regional disclaimer**

> For contacts in the EU, include a one-line note that they can request data deletion at your privacy contact email.

**Partner routing**

> If the contact mentions Partner XYZ, ask for their partner referral code before continuing.

## Common mistakes

| Mistake | What to do instead |
| --------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Using Other when a specific category fits | Move permanent rules to Identity & style, Conversation flow, or Boundaries. |
| Leaving seasonal guidelines active after a campaign | Set **status** to inactive instead of deleting — reuse next year. |
| Rules that contradict Boundaries or flow guidelines | Resolve conflicts before going live; Boundaries should win on hard limits. |
| Duplicating identity setup defaults | Keep name, tone, and role in [Identity setup](/help/ai-employees/identity-and-guidelines/identity-setup). |
