# Share files in chat

> Upload files your employee can send to contacts, and the security rule that comes with it.

**Assets** are the images, videos, documents, and audio files your AI Employee can send mid-conversation — a product photo, a price sheet, a size guide, a brochure. Available on the Pro plan and above; assets are in early access, so expect the feature to keep evolving.

This is different from [**Content**](/help/ai-employees/content/add-your-website), which is internal knowledge used to generate answers but never handed to a contact as a file.

<Warning>
  Everything in Assets can be sent to any contact who asks a relevant question — there is no partial visibility and no manual approval step per send. Never upload internal guidelines, unpublished pricing, or anything not meant for a customer's eyes.
</Warning>

## The one rule that matters

An asset is public the moment your employee decides it is relevant to send. Treat every file you upload here accordingly. Anything you would not hand directly to a customer belongs in [Content](/help/ai-employees/content/add-your-website) or the [Identity & guidelines](/help/ai-employees/identity-and-guidelines/identity-setup) tab instead — information the employee uses to inform its answers, without ever handing over the raw file.

## Add an asset

1. Drag and drop a file onto the **Assets** tab, or click **Add asset**. Images, videos, documents, and audio all work.
2. Give it a clear, friendly **name**. The employee only knows what it is looking at from the name and description, not the file's actual contents — name it the way you would explain it to a new hire.
3. Add a **description** if it helps clarify when the asset should be used. Optional, but worth doing for anything not obvious from the name alone.
4. Save.

Edit descriptions when a use case changes, and delete assets you no longer want the employee to offer. Your plan sets how many assets you can hold per employee — see [plan limits](/help/ai-employees/getting-started/hire-an-ai-employee).

Test delivery in the [Playground](/help/ai-employees/going-live/test-in-playground) after adding new assets, and see [Reference assets in guidelines](/help/ai-employees/capabilities/reference-assets-in-guidelines) for telling the employee exactly when to send one.
